Business Development for Teaching Lab

 

The Situation

Teaching Lab was growing but not yet ready to invest in full time business development staff.  They understood they needed to invest in this work, but were looking to engage with a consultant to help them understand what states, districts and charter management organizations might be good partners for the upcoming school year and future school  years.

 

The Solution

BloomED Group was hired to research over one hundred possible school district and charter management organization based on the status of their curriculum adoptions, leadership, and upcoming RFPs that might be suitable for Teaching Lab.  The work focused on districts and charter networks within states that are part of the Council of Chief State School Officers’ High Quality Instructional Materials Workgroup.  Many of these participating States are looking for strategic partners like Teaching Lab to help them adopt high quality curriculum.  This has often led to more work with school districts within those States.  

 

The Result

Within a few weeks, the client got a snapshot of the possible district and CMO partners to partner with.  Some options provided immediate next steps and several other districts were identified as hot prospects for the near future.
