Director of Impact for BookNook

The Situation

BloomEd Group was hired to serve as a temporary, part-time Director of Impact for the Prince George’s County Public Schools Tutoring Project.  Kerry quickly learned about BookNook, developed relationships with staff throughout most departments at Prince George’s County Public Schools to build out and execute a launch plan while BookNook built a team to manage the program once it was up and running.  Kerry put in structures to identify the stakeholders, developed communications to keep everyone informed of needs and progress, developed the family recruitment marketing plan, wrote FAQs for tutors and families and managed an enormous volume of support communications for families, captured lessons learned along the way and wrote a “Standard Operating Procedure” for BookNook’s future large tutor implementations.

The Result

In just two months, BookNook was able to launch a successful tutoring program that by early-December served 3,500 K-5 students with twice weekly tutoring to help students improve their literacy skills.

The Result

Kindred had over thirty people apply to their position—a pool that was incredibly diverse and talented.  BloomEd Group found people who were mission-aligned with Kindred’s parent equity work in DC public schools.

Kerry is a quick learner and systems thinker. She is able to master many details while also keeping an eye on the big picture. She was a tremendous advocate for families helping them navigate our registration, scheduling and technology to get their children free tutoring. She was a tremendous asset to help BookNook have a successful launch. She really helped set us up for success.
